We’ve been hearing rumors for quite a long time that The X-Files, the series about paranormal-investigating Feds that ran from 1993-2002 and made David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson famous, would return to TV. Fox Television’s announcement of its 2015-16 prime-time programming confirms the rumors, stating that The X-Files will return as a six-episode miniseries. The first episode will premiere on Sunday, January 24, after the NFC Championship Game, and subsequent episodes will air on Mondays, beginning 1/25. Duchovny and Anderson are back as Mulder and Scully, and original series mastermind Chris Carter is back as executive producer.
Also of note: Lucifer, based on a Neil Gaiman comic of the same name; Minority Report, based on Philip K. Dick’s story (it was also a pretty good Tom Cruise movie); and The Frankenstein Code. Trailers for these have been posted:
