Watch “Rakka,” a New Short by Neill Blomkamp

It was just a month ago that Neil Blomkamp, director of District 9, Elysium and Chappie, dropped a Twitter hint about his experimental film studio. Now we’ve got the product itself from Oats Studios: “Rakka,” a 22-minute exploration of life in the year 2020, when humans are under the slimy thumbs to some very nasty reptilian overlords. Watch it:

Here’s a shorter clip titled “What is Oats?” — it doesn’t really answer the question, although the word “Cormanesque” is dropped at one point, which means something to film cognoscenti.
