Chinese artist Liu Bolin currently is currently showing a photo series called “Hiding in the City” at the Gallery Edwyn Houk in Zurich. In the pictures, Bolin is wearing a Chinese army uniform, but is painted head-to-toe to mach his background, and generally succeeds in disappearing from view.
Why the Chinese army uniforms? Is this a statement on a hidden threat of Chinese militarism? Or does Bolin just get a really good deal on them from the Chinese army surplus store?
