Phil Cohen has one of the three cover spots of Heavy Metal 298, the Furthest Reaches Special. This is Cohen’s first cover for Heavy Metal, but his fourth appearance in the magazine — he contributed the groundbreaking mixed-technique stories “My Adventures in Hells Kitchen” to our July 2008 issue, “Secret of the Coin” to our Fall 2008 issue, and “Three Little Murders to our September 2010 issue.
We’re pleased to feature some outstanding examples of Cohen’s more recent work, many of which were used as cover art for books published by Black Coat Press, a French publisher of popular literature founded by Jean-Marc and Randy Lofficier (who are also Heavy Metal contributors).
Also included are some pages from Cohen’s Book of Splendor, a graphic novel that is currently in progress.
