Ok they done f—ed this up once, are they really gonna do it again? When fans of Ghost in the Shell got a look at the new Netflix series, Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045, there was backlash. Lots of backlash. The original source most Americans are familiar with is the 1995 hand-drawn animated film Ghost in the Shell. That movie was based on a manga series that began in 1989; since 1995 there have been a couple films and a TV series, and then in 2017 we got the live-action Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson. And that 2017 movie did not go over well with fans (or with new audiences, for that matter).
Which brings us to Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045. The Netflix series is animated, which seems like a good idea. But it’s CGI animated, so it has more of a Pixar look. Is this another misstep that could ruin the franchise or is it… good? Take a look and judge for yourself, this is the trailer that was released today:
