We know a lot of people have been looking forward to this one: Heavy Metal 296, the Street Art Special. It is not available for pre-order yet (but when it is, it will be in the Heavy Metal Shop), but we can share these four hot-off-the-press covers. They were created by Tristan Eaton, Deih, Shepard Fairey and Hebru Brantley. The issue is curated by Ron English, who previously contributed covers for issue 280 (Grant Morrison’s debut) and issue 292, the Psychedelic Special. “Through some alchemical mix of ambition, luck, and skill, the artists in this issue have attained no small measure of renown,” English writes. “And they all have stories they never get to tell. Taking the street out of their art lets the art speak for itself.”
We’ll keep you posted on the issue’s arrival date, and give you more to preview when it’s available. For now, enjoy these covers!
