What Could Be Better Than David Hasselhoff’s “True Survivor”? A Metal Cover Version

No, this isn’t a still from the video for the metal cover—this is from Hasselhoff’s original “True Survivor” video. It also has dinosaurs and Hitler.

David Hasselhoff had one of the hottest videos on YouTube last week with “True Survivor,” an irony-laden sendup of ’80s action movies, video games, music videos, and Hasselhoff himself. In it, the former Knight Rider and Baywatch star encounters street thugs, Nazis, an axe-wielding giant, and a dinosaur (which he ends up riding). There’s terrible simulated computer hacking, impossible kung fu, and not one but two Lamborghini Countaches. Director David Sandberg set out to make something so bad it’s good—and succeeded.

The “so bad it’s good” idea was off to a strong start given the source material—Hasselhoff’s “True Survivor” song (which is currently #27 on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart). But could it be that lurking beneath the synthesizers and Hasselhoff’s cheesy vocals there is a great metal song? You be the judge—here’s a noble attempt by Brian Storm & Galactic Pegasus (thank you Metalsucks.net).
