The H.P. Lovecraft-ian deity Cthulhu is a Great Old One—and some people think he makes a great curio or knickknack. There are Cthulhu cookie cutters, Cthulhu tiki mugs, Cthulhu plush toys and the like. We’re used to seeing all kinds of weird Cthulhu products.
Products, yes—but we haven’t seen too much Cthulhu produce. Food artist Valeriano Fatica has made a frighteningly frightening Cthulhu out of a watermelon. Really, it’s good. How can a watermelon possibly be scary? Yeah, that’s what you think—but it is.
Fatica, who is Italian, whittles away at watermelons, potatoes, and pumpkins like a mad Michelangelo, using his god-given talent to create temporary and geeky masterpieces. Here are a bunch of examples of other creations we nicked from his Facebook page; for more videos check out his YouTube channel.
