In a sequel to last year’s The Spoils of Babylon, another mock-serious IFC miniseries starring Saturday Night Live alumni is headed our way, and the trailer was just released today. It’s The Spoils Before Dying, which (like its predecessor) supposedly comes from the pen of Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell) who also directs (not really) and co-stars. Kristin Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, and Val Kilmer return, and new cast members include Kate McKinnon, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, Emily Ratajkowski, and Michael K. Williams, who stars as a piano-playing detective (or perhaps a detecting piano-player).
In this jazzy jazz-age hard-boiled whodunit and (maybe) shoot-em-up, nobody can be trusted, least of all cops, crooks, and dames who’ve been shot in the head. What the hell is going on here? We’re not even sure. Just watch the clip:
The series starts July 8; you can learn more about it on the Spoils Before Dying page at IFC.
