Good Night, Sweet Prince of Darkness: Sir Christopher Lee Dies at 93

Christopher Lee

Legendary actor, author and symphonic heavy metal singer (yes – you read that right), Sir Christopher Lee has passed away at age 93. He died at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on June 7 after being admitted for respiratory problems. Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Gitte (nee Kroencke), whom he married in 1961, and their daughter, Christina.

Gaining fame portraying the famous monsters in the classic Hammer Horror films, Sir Christopher had a long and admired career on stage and screen. Few men are so beloved for their ability to play a villain so convincingly through so many decades. Of course his talents allowed him to portray wide and varied roles, from Sherlock Holmes to Fu Manchu to Lord Summerisle – but it’s his villains that will never be forgotten. His passing is a great loss for us all.

  1. Oi Pan! Oi Pan! One of your own comes to meet with you at last. Such a loss for us lowly humans. He was a monster.. great and wise. A noble sage, of love and death. A voice that shall reverberate through the eons. He will be missed. Thank you Christopher for EVERYTHING you did! Your fan Paul. p.s. shame on you Peter Jackson! For not letting the voice of Saruman be heard!!
