The massive, abandoned King’s Park Psychiatric Center complex, located in King’s Park, Long Island, has been closed since 1996. But it hasn’t been empty—for nearly 20 years now, it’s been a favorite destination for would-be paranormal investigators and photographers. It’s also been a hangout, quite obviously, for kids with spray paint and bad attitudes. It’s said to be haunted, but that’s pretty much a rule when it comes to abandoned mental hospitals.
Project Senium is an effort by a group of urban explorers to document creepy abandoned places, and their first project took place in King’s Park Psych, although it’s not named in the film or on the website (if you really like what they’re doing, there’s a link to help fund their next project on the projectsenium.com/about-project-senium page).
