WHAT'S
ON MY BRAIN: Wednesday, August 9, 2006
Hey Gang,
Here's my post San Diego pile of photo nuttiness! Cool McBeans! We had
a blast as we always do--sold a ton of books, saw a tons of old friends
(I've been going there since 1985 so I feel like I know everybody!)
and made a bunch of new friends.
Although we missed Simon Bisley this year (workload wouldn't allow him
to get away this time) Lorenzo Sperlonga., Veronika Kotlajic, Stacy
E Walker, Alex Horley, and Nate Van Dyke were all there promoting the
premiere of their brand new, hot off the press books--we also had the
pleasure of hosting Dita Von Teese only San Diego signing (thanks to
our pal's at the Golden Apple Comic store in LA.
We also had the first Heavy Metal party this year (it was co-sponsored
by the Golden Apple folks as well!) to make the big announcement that
we're going into production on the live action "Fistful of Blood"
film later this year. We called it "Fistful of Cocktails"
and needed to find the right mix of fans and friends to help us live
up to the name. (Check out the photo's and you'll see. I think we succeeded!)
As mentioned in my last "What's On" note--I also had this
"Baby" thing happen…heh…just a little humor as
I am now officially more sleep deprived than usual…in fact I just
(finally) got him to sleep about ten minutes ago (roughly 2:00am LA
time) so now I can get to this update, the letters pages and publishers
note for the November issue, more storyboards for the F.O.B. film and
a few other odds and ends before I fall asleep in my chair.
Young master Shane is now officially three weeks old Friday. So we'll
be able to start weaning him off the formula and get him on beer. Of
course I'm kidding. I'll bore you all with some wacky photo's of him
soon enough.
Anyhoo, I'd usually go through and write humorous captions for all the
photo's--but they pretty much speak for themselves--and besides I'm
going to see if KR can get all thirty images I picked up all at once!
Good luck KR!
What you'll see is everything from booth set up--the show in full swing--the
F.O.B. party--and a variety of folks in different states of drunken
fun! (Even Howie kids!)
Okay--enjoy the pictures--I'm outta here, and you'll get more "to
much information" kinda stuff from me next week. Lots more details
on all things Heavy Metal.
Best, Kevin |
