WHAT’S
ON MY BRAIN
Dear Friends,
It has
been a long rough week, so I’m going to keep this short on this
Sunday night, the 21st of March.
I’m
not sure if you’ve seen the Heavy Metal home page, but I’ve
made a special statement about a pretty amazing person. I want to say
he was a close friend of mine, but it would be unfair to all the people
he touched, and who loved him in this life. I knew Martin Emond for
10 years or so, since I was introduced to him, and his work by Dave
Elliot. Dave Elliot was my partner in my publishing company, "Tundra
U.K." showed me the project called "White Trash" and
I knew I had to publish it right away. Nuff said, I funded it, and it
is one of my proudest publications.
Martin
passed away a week ago, and all of his friends have been spinning sideways
ever since. There was a memorial on Friday the 19th—a very sad
affair indeed. We all remembered, laughed for him, and cried allot.
He is/was loved, and will be missed by a great many. If for any reason
you are not sure who he was, or don’t have a copy of "White
Trash" he was also published in the January 1993, March 1994, and
September 1994 issues of Heavy Metal if you want to look them up. PLEASE
understand that was not a sales pitch—many folks who didn’t
know his work and just knew the "Man" wanted to see some of
his art, so I’m just sharing the information.
I didn’t
know what kind of silly photos to share with you this week as I always
do, as it really didn’t seem right to show photos of anything--
it was Julie who felt the worst for Martins girlfriend and her family's
loss, who said let's just share some images of her and I having fun
together, in hopes it would be pleasing to Martin. I didn’t like
the idea at first, but as I said in my note on the home page, Martin
loved life, loved all those around him, and loved to laugh, so I hope
these photos will make him laugh.
That’s
it—I’m not going to say anything else this week except,
"I love you Marty Fuck—can’t wait to see you again—and
I expect my fucking tattoo you promised me when I get there!"
