WHAT’S
ON MY BRAIN
I miss
my Puppies! How's that for an opening line? But it is true. I scooted
out of LA last Saturday heading for NYC for the International Toy Fair!
Lots of fun, great to see all the new products/toys/action figures coming
out this year, so now I'll know how much shelf space to make when I
get back.
Left NYC
on Tuesday and drove up to Northampton with Howie, so we could pick
out all the printing film for the next Heavy Metal Hardcover collected
book. With the success of the "25th Anniversary Cover Collection"
we decided to collect and reprint as many artist galleries from the
magazine we could get the rights to! Yeah! It's going to be a killer
200 page hardcover that will be out later this year, we're just waiting
for the last few artist releases so we can get on the printing schedule,
so stay tuned!
Now I'm hanging out for a few more days here in NoHo, working with our
Web site team, planning out all the new and cool content we want to
add this year. More details on that as is develops. Love coming to Northampton,
even though it is usually 50 plus degrees colder here than in LA, but
I guess it isn't so bad when you know you're going back to the sunshine
in a few days--I'm heading back on Saturday.
Just heard
that another great Troma Team flick is headed to your local DVD shop,
it's called "Tales from The Crapper" and it is a hoot and
a holler! Not only are Lloyd and the gang in rare/classic Troma form,
but it marks the stunning return to the small screen of yours truely!
That's right, I'm in one of the first features, and once again I do
what I do best, barely act, and die quickly! AND, my lovely wife doing
some of the nuttiest stuff she's ever done, in most of the rest of the
"Tales!" If you can't track it down to buy locally, we've
got a link to the Troma web site, in the Heavy Metal Links section here
on the site.

When
I left LA I had scanned and sent the images to the site master KR, and
brought the photos with me for reference to write this week's "What's
On"--this next photo of my studio I pulled with good reason a week
ago, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why now! So there you
go, another shot of my studio, some of the paintings you see in the background
are the ones Julie and I did together that will be in her next book shipping
in April. |

The
next shot is what woke us up the other morning in LA--Julie and I had
just hit the snooze button for the second time, when we heard a loud
crash out in the front of the house. We ran out to find this poor young
lady had dozed off on her way to work, and side swiped the grey car,
jamming it into the red car, before she slid to a stop a bit further
up the road. We helped her calm down, gave her some coffee, and she
went off to fill out all the police reports. |

The
last image for the week and this week's special, in honor of the new
"Turtles" toys I saw at the Toy Fair (shipping just in time
for Christmas kids!) is a photo Julie took of me the day the "TMNT
Artobiography" arrived in LA from the printer! What a treat! It
took me like two years to pull all the images together, write and design
it, so when it finally got to the front door it didn't seem real. It
was a lot of fun to see all those "Turtle" memories under
one cover, and if you want to add it to your collection, we're knocking
$10 bucks off the original price for the next week. Click
here to get the deal.
Okay, all
new updates going up today along with this "What's on" update--I'm
off to try and get on top of the message boards, and I'll talk to you
all in a week. |
