Kirby Cosplay! Marie-Claude Bourbonnais Brings Susan Storm to Life

Just ’cause we haven’t done it in awhile — let’s have some cosplay! And while we’re at it, we’ll give a nod to Jack “King” Kirby. There’s a huge event tonight more or less in his honor at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles — see this post for details:

Tonight! Kirby Mania With Nerdist at Meltdown in L.A.

When you look back at the birth of Marvel Comics, that moment when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were revolutionizing superhero comics, it’s interesting to note that they didn’t create all that many female characters. Those were different times, of course, but out of the gate the Marvel roster was a boys’ club with just a couple exceptions. Fortunately, there was a female in the first Marvel comic, Fantastic Four #1: Susan Storm, who would become Invisible Girl, and later Invisible Woman.

Here’s Marie-Claude Bourbonnais, French Canadian cosplayer and model, doing a highly effective Sue Storm. We also doff our hats to photo artist Jeff Zoet for enabling her invisibility and force field in these first several photos:
