WHAT'S
ON MY BRAIN: Friday, March 19, 2005
Happy
Friday everyone!
It's the morning after St Patrick's day, and I hope all you Irish (and
all the folks that pretend to be Irish for the day) Have the correct
and proper hang over. I'm guessing there are several of you that might
even keep the holiday going right through the weekend. Good luck with
that, be responsible (as much as you can) and drive safely--I need you
all to stick around.
I had another one of those nutty weeks, meetings, meetings, and more
fucking meetings--then a ton of follow-up to all those meetings, and
then a few more meetings to discuss the meetings and then more follow-up
to the meetings about meetings. Some weeks I really hate Hollywood.
Did do a couple fun things--my buddy Paul Jenkins was intown shooting
a short film with his creative partner Rob Prior. Mostly it was a test
showing what they can do as directors as they play the Hollywood game
trying to raise money to do a feature. Got to hang out with them, and
have a few beers after they wrapped, and toast the old days of Mirage
and Tundra.
I also dragged them to a film premiere of new low budget movie called
the "Helix" a producer friend worked on. It's a bit of a parody
film about the "Matrix" and had some really funny moments--overall
a great first effort, I look forward to seeing what these guys come
up with down the line.
This weekend I'm heading down to the 'Wizard World Convention"
in Long Beach, California to sign at the Golden Apple Comics booth from
noon to three on Saturday the 19th. Looking forward to it, I did the
show last year and they had a great turn out. I think it will be even
bigger this year, I hear allot of my East coast artist buddies have
flown in for the event, so I'm sure they'll be lotsa tearing up the
local bars and tall industry tales filling the air.
FYI, the next show I'll be doing, is the Big Apple Convention April
1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I did one there in February, I think I mentioned
it here in "What's On" around then--it was the one Simon Bisley
had committed to, and bowed out at the last minute. Good thing he did,
there was a huge snowstorm that weekend and the city pretty much seized
up. People just couldn't get into the show. Well, he's committed to
this one, we've got his tickets booked, and now it's all up to him getting
on the plane. I'll keep you posted and give you more details about the
show next week. Cool beans.

Okay,
once again, I'm getting to the end of the available space for my section
this week and gotta sign off. Most all the regular updates will go up
today, including about 24 new pieces of original art for sale. There's
new books, mags, and videos added to the store this month, if you haven't
had a chance to add something new and cool to your collection, take a
minute to browse the store.
Take care, see you in a week.
Best, Kevin |
