What's
On My Brain - June 15, 2004
"I feel good--bah
nah nanah nah nah nah! I know that I should now--bah nah nanah nah nah
nah! So good, so good, cuz I found YOU! Bump bump bump BAH!" Yes
I do kids, mainly because I just got off the phone with master Bisley,
who has confirm his trip to this years San Diego Comic Con for the world
premiere of his new book, "Simon Bisley's Illustrations from the
Bible: A Work in Progress!" I'm pumped. The con dates are the 22nd
to the 25th of July, so if you can make it there, looking forward to
seeing you, and if for some reason you're unable to make the trek, we're
taking "Pre-orders" for the book on the site right now, so
you can reserve you copy today--the book will ship to you all the end
of July.
Sorry things have
been running behind site wise recently, been traveling again---I went
to the "American Book Selllers" convention in Chicago last
week, and then the "Licensing Show" in NYC from there. I got
back into LA on Wednesday of last week, make sure the wife and dogs
remembered me, and then tried to find the bottom of my desk. I'm still
looking. Lots on the ol' plate right now--got two major studio pitches
for Heavy Metal projects this week, and working through the details
on all the previous ones. We'll get some new Heavy entertainment out
there shortly if it kills me. |
|
I found some fun photos for this weeks installment, I guess I kinda
always try to find wacky stuff to bore you guys with, so I hope you
like this one! I'm calling this collection of pic's "Kevin's can
of SPAM, mainly because I found a funny photo of me holding up a can
of Spam from a camping trip. That and the fact the images are all over
the map content wise--sorta.

The
first two are of a spider drinking milk off our kitchen counter top.
How fucking funny is that. Julie was making coffee one morning, spilled
the ol' milk and by the time she got something to wipe it up with saw
the action below. So she ran and got the camera, and here you go. Gotta
admit, "When's the last time you saw that?"

|
|
The next photo is a left over from my birthday gathering--someone had
the idea to hang an inflatiable doll up on Julie's photo back drop,
and shoot at it with water balloon wrist rockets. I'm pretty sure that
wasn't my idea
|
AHHH,
a gift from the gods! Or from our dog Felina…it seems the little
darling couldn't hold it all night, and left this sculpture on the floor
of the bathroom for all the world to see. Julie, with the camera always
with in arms reach couldn't resist capturing on film forever. Are we going
to call this one "Sharing too much information with you guys? Let
me know. |
Later
that same day, Julie was doing a test shoot with her sister Lizzy working
the camera, with the new color I just painted her back drop with, and
as always, where ever we are, the dogs think it is the most interesting
place in the world. So here they are with her, making sure no "Forces
of Evil" get anywhere near the queen. Funny shot. |
|
The
last three are of Julie trying to get a group shot of her and the gang,
again with Lizzy manning the camera. The best part of having the pups,
besides them all being so cool, is that this is the kind of greeting
you get every time you come home--they're always thrilled to see you!

Okay,
enough with that stuff, what else is doing? I finally got up to the
message boards after far too long away. I got through about three sections,
and answered about 100 posts. My goal for the week is to get all the
way caught up. There's some really funny stuff up there you should go
check out, and allot of links to movies and artwork you'll have a hard
time tracking down elsewhere. As always, my many thanks to all the gang
that hangs out there with me.
I got most
of the new site updates scanned an off to KR for posting--still missing
a few, I'll get up Tuesday morning. Besides the regular photo updates, you'll find a new link to the Bisley "Bible
Book", where you can preorder the book that ships in late July,
a teaser for the new
"Summer Special" issue of the magazine, with a killer
James Ryman cover, as well as new original art--eleven
new amazing pages from Max Frezzato's first Heavy Metal project "Margot
in Badtown!"
For
a special this week, we're going to offer up all the Heavy Metal posters
in the store at 10% off the regular price! If you're looking for
a great time to fill those empty spots on your bedroom wall now's the
time! Besides, we all know chicks dig nothing more that a wall of large
breasted women holding weapons posters--gets them right in the mood!
That's it for this week crew--thanks for hanging out with me. |

Best,
Kevin. |
