WHAT’S
ON MY BRAIN
Happy Monday--or
Tuesday, when ever you read this, as I missed my dealine and am just
getting the copy to my web guys late on Monday. Had a long rough week
last week, finishing up a ton of critical work, and getting ready to
hit the east coast for more work and taxes! You all finished your tax
work for this year yet? So I scooted out of LA Sunday, tried to get
through five scripts I needed to read and follow-up on this week, but
only got through one, and part of another before falling asleep. Not
that the scripts were boring, I was just to tired. Well, that and the
fact I had too many vodkas during my two hour layover in Dallas.
The worst
part of coming east, especially this time of year when it is a bit chillier
here than LA, is the time change. I usually stay up till 2 or 3 in the
morning to work on the west coast, so when I come here, I still do the
same except that it's three hours ahead in Mass., so it's 4 or 5 in
the morning before I can finally get to sleep--thus noon time before
I can hit the work pile again.
So, besides
tax work I'll get through while I'm here, I'm going to have my big editorial
meeting with Howard on Wednesday where we go the rest of the issues
we have scheduled for 2004, and plan the first part of 2005. We also
get through the final San Diego Comic Con plans--should be a killer
event for us as always, and I'll get you the final guest list in the
coming month.
For images
this week, I thought I would change it up a little, as is my whole plan
with this section of the site--giving you something different as often
as I can, and thought I'd throw you an exclusive series of doodles by
Simon Bisley! A bit different than what you normally see from "The
Man" as these are drawings he did of me, him and me, and a self
portrait done over the the last year or so, over a series of trips and
working sessions. Personally I think he captured me 100%, and himself
as well! Your thoughts?

As
for the site this week, we have all the regular updates ready to go--if
I know KR, he's got them up already, and just waiting for me to get
the text for "What's On" to him to finish it up. I'm going
to hit the message boards right after I finish this, as I really need
to catch-up on allot of great posts I've been running behind on lately.
Thanks to all the folks who have posted and have been waiting for my
thoughts--it means allot you don't mind waiting until I can clear my
desk to get to you.
I know
I always say this, but we will be adding more channels to the site soon,
as well as finishing up the comic sections of "Very Angry Seven"
and "Thump'n Guts".
For specials
this week, we wanted to reoffer the week long specials from week's past
in case you missed them, and wanted a second crack at some kiler bargains.
The "Frezattos Originals"
$100 book is offered again at half off (plus postage),
as are the "2004 Calendars" (Greg
Hildebrandt, Heavy
Metal, and Simon
Bisley) at $6 each (plus postage). One of my favorite books,
the "Richard Corben
Hardcover Collected" is a killer deal at $14.50, half
off it's original price--this book collects near 200 pages of his best
"Creepy" and Eerie" work he did for "Warren Publishing"
back in the early 70's. Everyone needs to have this for their book shelf.
Lastly,
we have the "Heavy
Metal:2000" animation cels, which really are great
for collectors--signed by Julie, Simon and I, these include backgrounds
and original drawings actually used in the movie, and sure to be a big
"Ebay" hit in years to come.
That's
it for me this week kids--you got the lastest news, and the lastest
deals, and I'm going to run off to the message boards now.
Talk to
you in a week.
